A Little Farther

He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, 'O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.'"
Matthew 26:39

Quick thoughts;

How much 'success' at the end of my life will I be able to measure by my talent, gifting, personality, ambition, timing, relationships, or some other characteristic, tangible or intangible, that I had?

Or rather...

Will I look back over my life one day and realize that what made it count was not whether or not I was the most qualified, most accepted, most liked; but the difference in my life was made by my willingness to go just a 'little farther'...

A little farther in loving my wife and children...

A little farther in fighting for true relationships...

A little farther in pursuing a walk with God...

A little farther in reaching others for Christ...

A little farther in serving others...

A little farther in working my business...

In His most desperate and darkest time, Jesus did not draw back, He did not run and hide, He did not cave in and break. Instead, He went a 'little farther'. Aren't you glad He did?

I cannot say that I have gone a 'little farther' always in my life. In fact, most of the time I have not. But today is not yesterday. Today is a new day. Yesterday I may have given up, but today I will not. Perhaps you are looking at your past and feel destined to be a failure. I like what my Irish friend Aaron Uhleman recently said; "Scars remind us of where we have been. Yet they don't dictate where we are going!"

How about you? What things in your life could possibly change right now if you would just go a 'little farther' in some area? Isn't your marriage worth it? Your family? Your children? Your destiny? Your life? Yes my friend. Yes it is.
